Accenting your home
If you are interested in making a truly captivating living space you will discover that painting alone is not enough. Once the paint job has been adjusted to suit your taste, there comes the part where the room takes a life of its own. For larger areas, a carpet may help complement the furniture but for walls or hallways, a simple but luxurious rug may be all it takes.
Because of their natural properties, leather products are often preferred as they are easy to maintain and are durable. More often than not they are hypo allergic making them suitable for everyone in your home or office. Depending on the size of the area to cover, your selection of leather products will range from sheep skin for smaller spaces to cowhide rugs for larger spaces.
Brazilian cowhide rugs
Though all hides appear to be the same, Brazilian hides are often superior in quality. The hides are often thicker and the hair and markings are more often than not very unique, making them a preferred choice for home decoration. Much like the South American ponies, the cattle from the region are known for their attractive and unique colouring. For this reason, a hide from the region will be more eye catching and suitable to add spice to your decoration plans.
Caring for your rug
In many cases the best and simplest way to keep the rug clean is to vacuum it regularly as this will quickly remove debris and substances that could stain it. When vacuuming it is advisable to do so going with the grain of the hairs; essentially this prevents the hair jamming in the machine each time. On occasion you can lift up the rug and carry it outside to shake out the dust. For large rugs this may be cumbersome and requires at least two people.
Every now and then you will have to cater for a spill. Fortunately, cowhide is easy to clean using a damp cloth and a squirt of soap. Gently clean toward the grain of the hair. Ensure that once the spill is removed you wipe it again thoroughly with a clean (soap less) dry cloth to remove all the soap.
